On Friday 14th August 2020, the Minister of Health, Hon. Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng commissioned an Emergency Operations Centre at Mbale Regional Referral Hospital established with support from the Makerere University Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI).
The initiative was funded by Resolve To Save Lives-a global health initiative led by former CDC Director Dr. Tom Frieden. The Centre will support the coordination and response to outbreaks or any public emergency within the region.
